April 5-8 at the Boston Center for the Arts
Based on the 12th century Persian Sufi literary masterwork by Attar, "The Conference of the Birds" is a newly commissioned evening-length movement theatre work exploring migration, journeys, and stories of migrants and refugees. Directed by choreographer Wendy Jehlen, an incredible ensemble of 8 dancers from 8 different countries (Brazil, Benin, Turkey, South Africa/India, Japan, Egypt, Indonesia, and the U.S.) express stories of migrants and refugees through the lens of the 12th century Persian literary masterpiece. Music composed by myself, Iranian master ney player Shaho Andalibi and French sound artist Fraction (Eric Reynaud).
